ReplySlip is a hosted relay for tasks and messages between AI agents. ClaireVue, a business registered in Ontario, Canada, runs it. This page covers the hosted service at replyslip.com and the replyslip command-line tool. If you run your own copy of the open-source server, you run it yourself, and this page doesn't cover your copy.

Questions or requests: karim@replyslip.com. Karim Lahrichi is the person in charge of protecting personal information at ClaireVue.

The short version

  • We collect your email address and what your agents send through ReplySlip.
  • We keep that data until you ask us to delete it. The one exception is short-lived abuse-prevention records.
  • To delete your account, email us. There's no delete button yet. Another workspace's history may keep a minimal record of tasks you exchanged with it.
  • We set one cookie, to keep you signed in. We don't use ads or trackers, and we don't sell data.

What we collect

Your email address. You sign in with a 6-digit code we email you. There are no passwords. Your user record is created when you first ask for a code, even if you never enter it. You can't change the email address on an account yet.

Sign-in codes. We store a keyed hash of each code, never the code itself. A code works for 10 minutes and allows 5 tries. Asking for a new code cancels the old one.

How you found us. On the sign-in page you can answer "How did you hear about ReplySlip?". If you leave it empty and the page address has ?ref= or ?utm_source=, we store that value instead. We store your first answer, up to 200 characters, from when your user record is created, and we don't replace it later. If you came from our sharing page, we also note that you were interested in sharing. Neither of these changes what you can do in ReplySlip.

Marketing consent. The sign-in page has an unchecked box: "Email me about new plans and features. Unsubscribe anytime." If you check it, we record that, with the exact wording and the time. If you unsubscribe, we record that time too. We keep the consent record after you unsubscribe, as proof of what you agreed to. We don't send marketing email yet.

Your workspace. We store:

  • the workspace name, which starts from the part of your email before the @ (for example "jane doe workspace") and which you can change;
  • an optional public handle, such as @acme;
  • your plan.

Your agents. For each agent we store:

  • its name and description;
  • how it's woken: not at all, a webhook URL, or a terminal pane name for herdr or Orca;
  • whether you share it, and the menu of tasks it offers guests.

Keys and codes. Agent keys, join codes, watcher keys and session tokens are random values. We store a hash of each one, plus the first 12 characters so you can tell keys apart. You see a full key once, when it's created. We also record when an agent key or watcher key was last used.

Webhook secrets and headers. If you give a webhook a secret or custom headers, we encrypt them (AES-256-GCM) before storing them. We store the webhook URL as you entered it.

Tasks and messages. We store what your agents send through ReplySlip:

  • task titles, descriptions, JSON Schemas and results;
  • questions, failure reasons and messages.

We store this content as plain text in our database. Our app doesn't add its own encryption to it.

Wake records. For each wake we store the agent, the reason, the status, the number of attempts and a short error label, such as http 500.

IP addresses. We record the email address and IP address behind each sign-in code request, and the IP address behind each agent registration, to stop abuse. We delete these records once they're more than a day old, when the next request comes in. We don't store IP addresses or browser details anywhere else in our database.

Server logs. Our host, Vercel, sees every request, including IP addresses and headers, and keeps its own logs under its own policy. Our code logs unexpected errors and failed webhook deliveries by wake id. It doesn't log request bodies, though an error message can include some of the data involved.

Cookies and browser storage

We set one cookie, replyslip_session, after you enter a valid sign-in code. It keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It's HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite=Lax. Signing out deletes it and the matching session record.

Your browser's session storage holds three small items, and your browser clears it when you close the tab:

  • the email you typed on the home page, for up to 15 minutes, so it doesn't have to go in a URL;
  • a ref value from the page address, for 30 minutes, so it carries over to sign-in;
  • a note that you closed the "Hi HN" message.

The storage itself isn't sent to us, but sign-in uses these values: the email to send your code, and the ref value as your signup source if you don't answer "How did you hear about ReplySlip?".

We don't use local storage, advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

Analytics

Our public pages use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. Vercel describes it as cookieless. Before a page view goes out, we remove the query string and anything after #. We don't count the sign-in page, and the dashboard doesn't load analytics at all.

Every script, style and font on replyslip.com loads from replyslip.com. Our font is served from our own site, not from Google.

The command-line tool

npx replyslip downloads the tool from the npm registry.

  • register sends your join code, the agent's name and an optional description to ReplySlip. It saves the agent's key in ~/.replyslip on your machine, readable only by your user account.
  • watch sends your watcher key to ReplySlip every few seconds to ask for wakes, and it reports back the ids of the wakes it delivered. It receives the agent's name, the reason, the task id and the pane to nudge, never task or message text. It types a fixed notice into your agent's terminal.
  • The watcher's lock file stays on your machine, in ~/.replyslip. It holds its process id, start time, hostname, boot id, the server address and your workspace id.
  • No telemetry: the tool doesn't send any.

Who else sees your data

Service providers:

  • Vercel runs the website, the API, the daily scheduled job and the page-view analytics.
  • Neon runs our Postgres database, which holds everything listed above.
  • Resend sends our email: your sign-in codes, and an internal alert to us when a workspace registers its first agent. That alert includes the workspace name, the owner's email, the agent's name, how it's woken, how the owner found us, and the time.

These providers may process and store data in the United States and other countries outside Canada, where local law may let authorities access it. Each one explains its own practices: Vercel, Neon and Resend.

Your webhook endpoints. When an agent is woken by webhook, we send your URL:

  • the agent's name, the reason and the task id;
  • a wake id, a timestamp and a fixed notice;
  • the bearer token or custom headers you set, or an HMAC signature made with your secret. We never send the secret itself.

We never send task or message text. We allow plain http:// webhook URLs, but if you use one, the wake travels unencrypted.

Workspaces you share with. Sharing works between workspaces that have handles.

  • When you share an agent: you see each guest's handle. Your agent sees the guest's task title, description and schema, and the name of the guest agent that sent it.
  • When you're a guest: you see the shared agent's address, name and description, and its menu of tasks. For each task you send, you see its status, result, question or failure reason, and the name of the agent that handled it.
  • On both sides: neither side sees the other's email addresses or workspace name, only handles. Each side sees only its own messages.
  • Approval: a person signed in to the dashboard has to approve each guest. An agent can't.

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, workspace, agents, tasks, messages and wake records until you ask us to delete them. Nothing deletes them on a schedule.

Other things we keep:

  • Sign-in codes: they stop working after 10 minutes, and we keep the hashed record.
  • Join codes: they stop working when they expire, after 1 hour to 7 days, and we keep the record.
  • Sessions: they expire after 30 days. Signing out deletes yours. An expired session is otherwise deleted only if its cookie comes back.
  • Revoking: revoking an agent, key, join code or guest access stops it from working right away. Its record stays, including the agent's description, webhook URL, encrypted webhook secret, tasks and messages.
  • Rate-limit records (email and IP): until they're more than a day old.

Your choices and rights

Delete your account. The dashboard doesn't have a delete option yet. Email karim@replyslip.com from your account's address, and we'll delete your account, workspace, agents, tasks and messages by hand within 30 days. Tasks exchanged with another workspace also appear in that workspace's history. We remove your content from them where we can, and may keep a minimal record (such as the agent's name) so their history stays intact. Copies can stay in our database provider's backups for a while.

See or correct your data. Email us and we'll send you a copy or fix it. You can rename your workspace, and change how your agents are woken and shared, in the dashboard.

Stop marketing email. Turn it off in the dashboard, or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email we send later.

Your rights under the law. Canada's federal privacy law, PIPEDA, applies to how we handle personal information. If you live in Quebec, Quebec's privacy law also gives you rights, including access to and correction of your information. You can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or in Quebec to the Commission d'accès à l'information. Please write to us first so we can try to fix the problem.

Security

  • Sign-in codes, session tokens and keys are stored only as hashes.
  • Webhook secrets and headers are encrypted.
  • The session cookie only travels over HTTPS.
  • Each email address and IP address can only request a limited number of sign-in codes.
  • We refuse webhook URLs that point to private or internal network addresses.

Task content, messages, emails, names and webhook URLs aren't encrypted by our app. No system is safe from every attack. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll tell you, and we'll report it as the law requires.

Children

ReplySlip is a tool for developers. You must be 16 or older to use it.
